Assignments

Each assignment is worth 100 points. Assignments must be e-mailed to cs652@cs.mcgill.ca on the day they are due. Ten points will be taken off each day for late assignments; after 5 days being late, no points are given anymore. All assignments are posted by 11:59pm and due by 11:59pm on the mentioned date.

The assignment schedule is as follows:

• Assignment 1 is now available: pdf, data set and information about the data. It is due on September 27.
  Sample solutions for assignment 1
• Assignment 2 is now available: pdf, hw2x.dat, hw2y.dat. It is due October 16. Please upload the assignment at the following link: http://cs.mcgill.ca/~mmilan1/ml/. Do NOT e-mail it, as for Assignment 1.
• Assignment 3 is now available at: pdf. It is due October 30. This assignment is shorter than the others, because of the later posting, and contains no programming. Hence, it is worth a total of 80 points. The following tewo assignments will be worht 110 points each. The questions are useful in preparation for the midterm exam. Please upload the assigment at the form linked above.

• Assignment 4 is now available: pdf, PCA data, kernel PCA data and is due November 28.
• Assignment 5 is now available: pdf. It is optional, since the lowest grade gets dropped.
