October 17th: International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
Since 1993, the whole world (through the United Nations) celebrates on October
17th, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
ActionS sincerely hopes that each day be an October
17th until we can see this social injustice disappear.
We should not rely solely on our governments to fight against poverty, but it is
a goal that must be covered by each individual who has the chance to live decently
and by each successful business. The more the community is involved, the more the
task becomes easier to accomplish.
We must continue the fight until every man, every woman, and every child has the
opportunity to realize his full potential.
We, in ActionS for a better childhood life quality,
strongly believe that investing in children and uphold their rights is one of the
best ways to end poverty. Help us achieve
our mission.
The poverty is a real fact in Montreal

October 17th: International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
President's word on the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication
of Poverty
October 17th is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. It is celebrated
every year since 1993, when the General Assembly of the United Nations has designated
this day to promote awareness of the need to eradicate poverty in all countries.

It is true that in Canada and more specifically in Montreal, the concept of poverty
is different from the one aimed by the United Nations that focuses mainly on the
economic aspect of the problem. Nevertheless it is as important to try eliminating
poverty among us, because of its critical social effects with their negative impact
on children living in poverty situation that are as we all know, harmful on both
these individuals as well as on the society.
I would like to extend a special thanks to all our donors, sponsors and volunteers
for their support.
