COMP 426 Automated Reasoning
Lecture 3: Notational Definitions
We explain a new means for defining logical connectives: notational definition. We use this idea to define negation and logical equivalence. We will discuss the connection to classical logic and explain derived rules of inference.
Instead of definine negation via notational definitions, we also can characterize negation via introducation and elimination rules. This introduces the paradigm of hypothetical and parametric judgments.
We will also explain the idea of localizing hypothesis.
