Work Experience:

Background Music
I have performed in many different configurations (solo piano, duo with piano or guitar or bass, trio with guitar or piano and bass and drums, etc) as background music for wedding receptions, private parties, coffee shops, and other special events.
PA Grocery Store: Jeff Louch Group [October 2002-January 2004]
Provided music for grocery store shoppers.
Bar Le Sugar: 5 à 7 à Le Sugar [June 2001-September 2001]
Featured musical act during "Happy Hour" at Bar Le Sugar as part of the Elie Flynn Trio. Trio consisted of alto saxophone, guitar, and bass with some occasional "special guests" on mixed instruments. Music consisted mostly of jazz standards with some original compositions.
Performance music
I have appeared as a bandmember and featured guest for many local artists including Chris McCann, George Mitchell, Alex Bellegarde, and Daniel Gélinas. I am also a member of the following groups:
Jeff Louch Group
Pianist Jeff Louch leads a rotating assortment of jazz musicians that play standards in a small-group combo format. Whether in duo, trio, or quartet formations, the group concentrates on repertoire from the jazz tradition.
Fear of 4
Lead by Glenn Austin on drums, Fear of 4 plays jazz-influenced instrumental covers of pop and rock tunes ranging from such diverse sources as John Coltrane, Peter Gabriel, and Jimi Hendrix.
The Harlem Feetwarmers
Lead by arranger/bassist Jeff Richard, the 16-person group plays note-perfect transcriptions of classic Ellington repertoire. The Harlem Feetwarmers play music that is not often heard outside of old vinyl recordings.
Scoring
Melanie Roach: Evolution [ February 2004 ]
I am currently in the process of scoring the short film "Evolution" by Melanie Roach, which will be presented as an entry to several international film festivals.
Théâtre Émergence: L'Inspecteur Specteur et le doigt mort [ November-December 2003 ]
I provided saxophone cues for music used both as mood-setting as well as for the main character's theme. The play enjoyed a successful 11 night run.

Apart from the listings below, I have taken lessons with Jason Moran, John Roney, Josh Rager, and Gordon Foote.
2003-today:
Studying Jazz Saxophone at McGill University in the BMus Faculty programme. Currently studying under Frank Lozano.
1998-2000:
Participated in McGill Conservatory Jazz combos as an alto saxophonist and pianist. Instructors included Jennifer Bell, Bill Mahar, and Adam Over.
1990-2003:
Alto saxophone lessons under Jennifer Bell (private lessons). Studying jazz (performance and composition).
1987-1995:
Classical piano lessons under Pamela Korman (private). Currently studying jazz piano independently.
1999:
Graduated from McGill University Computer Science (BSc) programme - this includes a first year in the Majors Physics programme. (completed all courses in Winter 1998 semester, officially graduated in 1999 due to administrative mishap)
1995:
Graduated from Marianopolis College Pure & Applied Science programme with "Honor Roll" (CEGEP) and course load containing multiple enriched mathematics and physics courses.
1993:
Graduated from Lower Canada College with "Honors" (High School) and took augmented course load containing computer science and advanced mathematics classes from grades 9 through 11, "Language Maternelle" french classes from grades 7 through 11.

Volunteer Experience:

McGill Conservatory Jazz Combo: Substituting in the role of piano player [2002]
Griffith-McConnell senior citizen's residence: Help and Musical Entertainment for Elderly [1993]
Provided miscellaneous help for mentally- and physically-handicaped seniors, as well as light musical entertainment during meals.

Awards:

2000: Gold Medal in the "open" Jazz Combo category at the provincial level in the MusicFest Canada (http://www.musicfestcanada.com) competition.
Competed as part of McGill Conservatory Jazz Combo consisting of alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, bass, guitar, drums. Music consisted of arrangements of jazz standards. Eligible for but did not participate in national-level competition due to scheduling problems.
1993: Best Player Music Award upon graduation from Lower Canada College. (grade 11)
This is the first year the prize was awarded.

Old Groups

June 2001 - September 2001:
Member of the Elie Flynn Trio (jazz trio) consisting of alto saxophone, guitar, bass. Music consists of mostly standard jazz material.
1999-June 2002:
Member/leader/arranger/composer of/for the Jazz Engine (jazz quintet) consisting of alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, guitar, bass, drums. Music consists of mostly original material in a contemporary jazz setting.
summer 1995:
Member of the brazilian music band "Scavactum" consisting of alto saxophone, two guitars, bass, drums. Music consisted of partly original material and partly latin jazz standards.

Other

1993-1995:
President of Marianopolis Music Club. Club branched into jazz groups (of which I had a personal involvement), a choir, classical ensembles, and one rock group. Club was highly successful, raising money in conjunction with "Just for Charities" club.
1993-1995:
Member of Performance Club as both actor and musician. Musical director of production of Molière's "The Ridiculous Précieuses" (1994).
