Senegal has one of the lowest rates of HIV/AIDS in the region. Also infant mortality and maternal mortality levels are, according to UNICEF, moderate in Senegal. However, immunisation has been declining in recent years and progress in education has been slow.
SOS Children has been working in Senegal since 1977 supporting orphaned and vulnerable children and their families. The work in Senegal includes a Family Strengthening Programme and support through a mother and child clinic in Kaolack.
