Title. Tableaux on cores and the combinatorics of fusion algebras.

Abstract. I will present special types of tableaux on (k+1)-cores, called k-tableaux, from which generalizations of Schur functions
are obtained. I will describe how the decomposition products of these functions are related to the fusion rules of the Wess-Zumino-Witten
conformal field theories, and how this motivates the search for a plactic monoid on k-tableaux.
