Networking is very useful in getting jobs. After my summer course at McGill during the same summer, I worked at Breton Banville & Associates to integrate an inventory tracking system that would help the IT-infrastructure department be more efficient for their daily tasks.
My work consisted in:
- Ordering cables, monitors, old computers, computer accessories, projector accessories, and other hardware equipment in the backstage rooms. (4 days)
- Preparing and executing the annual inventory at the headquarter buldings of the hardware equipment. (3 weeks)
- Researching on barcode technologies and inventory tracking systems. (2 weeks)
- Assisting major and minor furniture moves for new and temporary working offices. (6 weeks)
- Analyzing the current inventory tracking system, proposing alternatives and meeting with affected parties to find a common solution (6 weeks).
- Assisting in the integration of another software for human resources. (2 weeks)
- Installing the system chosen for inventory tracking. (1 week)
The tasks list is ordered in the order of assignment. The time spent on each task was spanned over the three full-time months in the summer and part-time during the fall.
