LaTeX

If you are a grad student, you just HAVE to learn this, if you already haven't, that is. I had a little idea about LaTeX and it was enough to get me started. Read on to find out how I use this wonderful (!) typesetting tool.

Editing Personally, I use Emacs. Under windows too. There a version of GNU emacs for windows available from this website. I think the best way to go about typesetting is by using this excellent software.
LaTeX If you're using Linux or any flavor of UNI*, you should get LaTeX with your distribution. Not too much of a worry that one. You want LaTeX for windows? Grab MIKTEX from miktex.org. Again, that's just my personal choice.
Tutorials For starters (and the impatient like me!), the one I would recommend is 'Getting Started with LaTeX' tutorial by David Wilkins. It covers almost all the basics without getting too fancy. After you are familiar with the LaTeX environment, you can always go and check the LaTeX manual that comes with your LaTeX software.
