Many hours of work have gone into building the most versatile, customizable and localizable search widget around. Please consider making a small donation to support the ongoing development of this widget. Donations can be made through PayPal by selecting “Donate please!” from the widget’s context menu, by clicking the donation related link in the widget’s about-box or by clicking Donate! I would be very grateful for any amount! For more information on how to use PayPal, visit their website at http://www.paypal.com .
Type your search query in the search box and press enter. The search results will be opened in you default web browser. It’s that easy!
Right-click the widget or otherwise obtain the widget’s context menu and select the search engine you want to use. It’s that easy!
First select the search engine you want to delete, then select “Delete selected search engine”. It’s that easy!
Pinpoint comes with a rather large selection of preloaded search engines. If you don’t need them all it’s easy to delete any of them.
Right-click the widget and select “Add a new search engine”. Fill in the form:
First select the search engine you want to edit, then select “Edit selected search engine”. Enter the modifications you wish to make in the form following the guidelines for adding a new search engine.
In case the widget gets out of hand, it is possible to easily restore the default preferences. Right click and select “Restore default preferences”. You will be asked if you also want to restore the original search engine list.
WARNING: selecting YES will delete all added search engines! Selecting NO will restore all other preferences but keep your search engine list intact.
Pinpoint can easily be resized much in the same way any window can! Hover your mouse over one of the ends of the widget. When the cursor changes to a hand, you can click and drag to the desired size. Note that there is a minimal size to prevent the widget from disappearing. To move the widget without resizing it click and drag the search engine icon or press Ctrl or Command while dragging the widget.
Pinpoint is one of the first widgets to make use of the new localization features of Yahoo! Widget Engine 3.1.
To use Pinpoint in a different language, click the Yahoo! Widget Engine system tray icon and select preferences. Under “Language” select the one you want. Pinpoint currently supports English, French, Spanish and German.
Note that for the language changes to take effect in the Yahoo! Widget Engine you will have to restart the Yahoo! Widget Engine. If you don’t want to restart the whole Widget Engine right away you can simply select “Reload widget” from Pinpoint’s context menu to apply the changes to the Pinpoint widget only.
If you notice any errors in the localizations please contact me. My Spanish isn’t perfect and I don’t know German so some of the translations might not be right although I have tried to make them as good as I can with my limited knowledge.
If you have any problems using pinpoint, or if you would like to make a suggestion, report a bug, give your opinion or correct an error in a localization, please contact me at: fwwarr@hotmail.com
