"It's a combination of a bitmap and 3-D polygon-type driving game..." -- Don Mattrick

This page is dedicated to the best computer (car-driving) game ever created. It is called Stunts, and was created by Distinctive Software Inc. Version 1.0 was released way back on October 5th, 1990, and version 1.1 was released about 4 months later, on February 12th, 1991. Kevin Pickell was the lead programmer, while Don Mattrick was the designer, but about 15 people are credited for its production.

HARDWARE Requirements (original/minimum):
Stunts requires an Intel 8086 processor (or compatibles) running with 8 MHz or faster. You will also need a video card, such as Hercules, CGA, EGA, MCGA/VGA, 640K of memory and a 5.25" or 3.5" disk drive. AdLib, SoundBlaster or Roland MT-32 sound cards and Joystick or Mouse are supported.

SOFTWARE Requirements (original/minimum):
Stunts requires MS DOS version 3.30 or later or any MS DOS compatible operating system (IBM PC DOS, DR DOS, Novell DOS, Caldera DR OpenDOS, PTS DOS).

The Game:

Stunts v1.1 (12/02/91) -- 1,083 KB Download Stunts version 1.1. The download includes only the game and default track (without the cracks, extra tracks and other things). It is in zipped format, so you'll need to unzip it using the utility of your choice.

Once you've got Stunts, download the Stunts crack, and/or passwords so that you don't have to waste time "buckling up". The crack enables you to never again have to worry about the "seatbelt", while the passwords file gives you a text version of the most common questions asked at the "seatbelt prompt".

Some Tracks:

If you are a competitor, read the following: A note regarding BEST KNOWN TIME for any listed tracks: These times are all believable, and proof has been sent-in along with the time. A replay is the only trustworthy proof that exists.

Another note: The ultra-famous DEFAULT TRACK is basically the track that everyone judges their ability on. This is the most respected track, and all true Stunts drivers have clocked themselves on it (mine is 1:08:90). In other words, you should aim to improve your time on the Default Track as it separates the good from the bad.

If you beat any of the listed fastest times, send me the replay of your race.

Also, you can e-mail me regarding any Stunts related topic. My address is abatko AT cs DOT mcgill DOT ca.
