.txtLAB is seeking to hire a student to oversee a crowdsourcing project on the visual study of scientific annotation within historical documents. Specifically, we are trying to develop algorithms to detect graphic practices like tables, illustrations and diagrams within the history of scientific research (1700-1900). To do so we are looking to undertake a large-scale annotation project using crowdsourcing. The ideal student has experience using platforms like Figure8 or Amazon Mechanical Turk for research purposes — or the ability to quickly learn and implement a large-scale study through these platforms.
