Casual Research Assistant Learning from Demonstration for Self-Driving Cars

Start Date: February 20, 2018

End Date:   July 24, 2018

Salary:      $17.73 per hour plus 4% vacation pay and 3.6% in lieu of holidays 


Job Description:

The Project Research Assistant will work closely with three Principle Investigators and a team of 9 graduate students in delivering research solutions applied to self-driving vehicles. Job duties will include programming and configuration of robotics software, communications with industrial and academic partners, data management, and results dissemination.

Required Skills: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, ECE, CS or equivalent

-Work experience in robotics industry involving modern, complex navigation components for land vehicles

- Experience with the Robot Operating System in both industrial and academic (University) environments

- Experience designing robot software architecture for fully autonomous vehicles

- Management of a robotic software team of size 10 persons or greater

- Ability to program production-quality software in C/C++ and Python

- Experience with software version control systems in industrial/production environments

- Research experience in the area of learning from demonstration

Additional Beneficial Skills:
- Experience presenting robotics research in oral and poster formats
- Strong speaking, understanding and writing skills in English
- Experience with machine learning software packages, such as scikit-learn
- Experience with agile software development practices
