Reporting

Within six months of return of sabbatic leave, you must submit a sabbatic leave report.   This report should describe the sabbatic experience in terms of its fulfillment of the sabbatic leave plan.  This report should go to the Provost, with copies to the Dean of Science and the Director of the School.

If two six-month leaves are taken in non-consecutive academic years, you should submit a report following each six-month sabbatic leave.

Timeline

*N.B.  In cases where a staff member is appointed in more than one department, the application for sabbatic leave shall be submitted to all relevant Chairs and forwarded to the appropriate Dean or Deans.  

By October 1st - submit your application to the Director for the following academic year together with:

(1) a current C.V.

(2) a list of publications, if not already included in the C.V.

(3) a statement of the location(s) at which the sabbatic leave is to be taken

(4) letter(s) of invitation from the institution(s) you plan to visit, if appropriate and

(5) a copy of the report submitted following the preceding sabbatic leave, if appropriate.

By October 20th, the Director forwards the application along with his recommendation, supported by substantive written reasons, to the Dean of the Faculty.

By November 15th - Dean forwards the application, together with his recommendation, supported by substantive written reasons, to the Provost.

By January 7th of the year following submission of an application, the Provost and VP Research & International Relations shall notify staff member if tending to a negative decision. (Please consult guidelines for further details.)

By January 31st of the year following submission of an application, the Provost and VP Research & International Relations render their final decision.
