COMP- 577: DISTRIBUTED DATABASE SYSTEMS

Course Summary

Owing to new technologies like the Internet and cluster computing, distributed systems in general, and distributed information systems in particular, have become reality and are applied in practice. The distributed environment, however, has challenging new requirements: communication, site autonomy, distributed architecture, partial failures etc. This course will introduce and discuss in depth several of the issues related to the management of information in such a distributed environment.
