McGill progamming team headed to world finals

McGill's team, consisting of undergraduates Gheorghe Comanici, Yang Li and Scott McMurray, placed 2nd in the Northeast division of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), giving them a berth at the World Finals in Stockholm.

On November 1st, 12 teams from the North East North America region, including MIT, Harvard and Brown, met at the Rochester Institute of Technology to compete for a spot at the World Finals in Sweden in April 2009. After leading for a while, the McGill team fell behind MIT Beavers, who established a commanding lead, but McGill succeeded in holding the second position until the end. The first and second teams will both advance to the World Finals, to be held in Stockholm, Sweden.

The team would like to thank Eric Dallal for his advice and coaching, and SOCS for its support and funding.
