Prof. P. Hayden named Outstanding Young Computer Science Researcher
Prof. Patrick Hayden has been awarded a 2011 Outstanding Young Computer Science Researcher award by the Canadian Association of Computer Science (CACS). The prize recognizes Hayden's pioneering investigations in quantum information theory, which has established new links between computer science and fundamental physics.
Prof. Patrick Hayden holds the Canada Research Chair in the Physics of Information. His research interests are in quantum information theory, quantum computing and quantum cryptography. In particular, he studies the absolute limits that physics places on information processing, and how to exploit physical effects to accomplish otherwise impossible communication and computing tasks.
