Brief
Biography
Dr. Xue Liu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at McGill University. He is also an Assistant Professor (by courtesy) of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, an associated member of the Centre for Intelligent Machines (CIM), and an associated member of the Centre for Advanced Systems and Technologies in Communications (SYTACom).
Dr. Liu is the founding director of the Cyber-Physical Systems Lab (CPSL) at McGill University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006. He obtained his B.S. degree in Mathematics and M.S. degree in Automatic Control both from Tsinghua University,
China. He worked briefly in the Hewlett-Packard Labs and IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. Dr. Liu received the Ray Ozzie Fellowship, the Saburo Muroga Fellowship, the Mavis Memorial Fund Award, and the C. W. Gear Outstanding Graduate Award, from
the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has filed 5 patents,
and published more than 80 research papers in international journals
and major peer-reviewed conference proceedings, including the 2008 best paper award from the IEEE Transactions of Industrial Informatics. Dr. Liu's research has been supported by NSERC Discovery Grant, NSERC Strategic Grant, FQRNT, and Canadian Foundation for Innovation.
