Well, I was with IBM and the ICS in Montreal - when in 1977 I was
transferred to IBM in Toronto. I missed ICS, Montreal, all my friends,
civilization as I knew it. Even bought a cottage in the Laurentians
AFTER I was transferred - which I have still and am in the process of
selling.
Personal:
Eric Mill and I joined up as partners over 16 years ago. Eric - from the
northeast of England, worked for IBM in Manchester and came to these
shores to meet his fate. Still with IBM in Toronto.
My daughter Marianne graduated in business and finance, worked in same,
then went to Ryerson and studied design. She started an environmental
construction business and moved on and started another business five
years ago - manufacturing dog boots: "Muttluks" which now exports over
80% of its product volumes. Happily she is also in Toronto
My son Jude, is VP of Franklyn Templeton in Los Angeles. He followed his
wife, Ann Shatilla (remember of CFCF TV?) who landed a great assignment
in LA. They both have green cards now - miss seeing them on a regular basis.
You may remember little Angela who also lived with me - Happily she is
also in Toronto and is involved in the film industry and works 36 hours
a day - wish we could see her more.
Business:
Left IBM in =9192, started my business M B & Associates Inc. Specialize in hi-tech (or any other) company turnaround, business and marketing plans and coaching to implement them. Also offer seminars and facilitation. And concurrently - - -
Last year, I got my Certificate in Mediation from the University of Windsor Law School and two ears ago, my certificate in Arbitration. Am starting to build a practice specializing in business, IT and employment conflict resolution. Am working toward being listed on the Ontario Court roster for Mandatory Mediation. Will start shortly as mediator part time for the Richmond Hill Small Claims Court.
Nine years ago both Eric and I took on part ownership of the Omega Centre Book Store. He is Treasurer and I am CEO & Chair of the Board (all on the side).
