Sponsors at the BBQ

In July 2011, McGill University's School of Computer Science will host its seveth "Be a Computer Scientist for a Week" camp. The aim of the weeklong summer camp is to promote the computer science and software engineering fields to pre-university students. We are inviting high schools across the Greater Montreal area to submit names of their students most deserving of attending this event. The students will focus on the role of the computer scientist, and in particular, group problem solving. They will be introduced to computers and programming through a real life application, namely either "Mission to Mars" or Game Programming Guru!

The camp is organized around individual learning and group work. Students will attend classes in the morning and tackle problems in teams of two to five students in the afternoon. A competition will take place on the last two days of the camp during which teams will be introduced to a topic in computer science, and then allotted time to develop their programs. The teams will be recognized at an end-of-camp BBQ, with a wide assortment of prizes!

Sponsors in the Classroom

We trust that by exposing attending students to the McGill campus, as well as to the intricacies of the field, they will be motivated to pursue studies in the computer science or software engineering field.

The organizing committee cordially invites you to embark on a joint venture, and collaborate in this exciting project! The event not only offers a chance to promote your company and advertise its services, but an unparalleled exposure to the future generation of computer scientists in Montreal.

We would like to thank you for considering this opportunity, and hope to hear from you in the very near future. Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to address them to us by email at jvybihal@cs. mcgill. ca or by phone at (514) 398-7071.

Sponsorship Options

Contribution alternatives are outlined below, both in focused sponsorships and packaged options. Sponsorship can be in the form of products, funding, or a combination of the two. We encourage you to contact us and learn how your organization can become involved with the 2011 Summer Camp.

Packaged Sponsorships

Your company can help us with monetary contributions, which will help us cover camp expenses.

  • Web Site - the Summer Camp would attract hundreds of students, parents and schoolteachers trying to find information on the summer camp, requirements, viewing recent updates and pictures once the camp ends. The site contains a Sponsors section with logos, descriptions and links; it can also be branded with a logo in the site header, making it always visible. Note: all options below include a link to your site.
  • On-Site - the new McGill technology building will host the entire camp and BBQ; it offers many opportunities for visibility through posters and banners (provided by the sponsor).

Focused Sponsorships

Your company can help by providing us with the material required to run the camp for a week.

Lunch Sponsors
  • Camp material - Students will be involved in a classroom setting for an entire week, and materials such as pens, pencils, and paper pads are a necessity. Great visibility options include distributing pens and paper bearing your company logo.
  • Snack food - Students will be given snacks and water three times a day throughout the camp. You can gain visibility by being the snack provider for a day or better yet, for the entire week!
  • BBQ Sponsor - At the end of the camp, a BBQ will be organized for McGill professors and students, High School students and their parents and teachers. A great way for you to get involved would be to help us put the BBQ together, and sponsor the burgers, bread, drinks and cutlery.
  • T-Shirt Sponsor - Upon their arrival, all participants will receive an official Summer Camp T-Shirt. Promote your company by sponsoring these fashionable shirts. As a token of appreciation, your company logo will be printed on the back of each T-Shirt.
  • Prize Sponsor - The end of the camp is marked by a competition, and all five members of the winning group will be awarded a prize to congratulate them for their efforts. Furthermore, the remaining participants will be given consolation prizes. Your company can help us by providing us with games, software or books!

Numerous sponsor packages (gold, silver, bronze) are also available.
