Academics

I am a second year student in the Faculty of Science currently attending McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a Major in Computer Science and a Minor in English Literature. I am also taking Japanese Language classes in order to become completely fluent in reading, writing and speaking Japanese.

My main interests in Computer Science are (1) graphics and (2) cryptography. In topic (1), I have created a small Java application which creates 3D images using raytracers and Phong shading from a user inputted text file which contains the commands. I am also enrolled in a graphics course next term and I believe my interest will grow even futher. For topic (2), I created a new cryptography system in high school using linear feedback shift registers (or LFSR for short-more information can be found here). I am currently learning about the mathematics of RSA cryptography in one of my courses and I am enrolled in classes which will lead me to research in both topics. I am familiar with a large number of Computer Languages (C, Java, Python, Scheme, SML, etc.) and web technologies (HTML, CSS, Flash, Javascript, PHP).

My interest in English is in American Literature. I am particularly interested in E.L. Doctorow and Mark Twain.

I am interested in the Japanese language having worked in Japan the previous two summers.

Being an openended and curious person, I am certain my interests in both Computer Science and English will change over the course of my studies.

Extracuricular

I am the VP Administration of the Computer Science Undergraduate Society. In addition, I am a member of the Japanese Student Association, the Snowboard Club and several intramural sports.
