TITLE: Classifying Adult Content on the Web
SPEAKER: Pat Morin (School of Computer Science, McGill University)

We describe an automated system for answering the question "does the web page X contain adult content?" While the definition of "adult content" is a contentious issue, for the purposes of this work, adult content is synonymous with pornography.

The system we describe uses a combination of image analysis, text analysis, and analysis of the relationships between web pages to solve this classification problem. In this talk, we describe this classification system in detail and give empirical results on its accuracy.
