Greg's list of places to eat
Back to my main page.
Some restaurants that I enjoyed while attending a conference in
Vancouver, November 2002 :
-
Tojo's. This place is awesome. The great Tojo himself
will prepare an unbelievably tasty meal if you sit at his sushi bar.
Descriptions I have heard range from "best sushi in North America" to
"best sushi in the world". I am not a sushi expert, but it is by far the
best I have ever eaten. Tojo first greets you and tells you whether you
have been at his sush bar before (I witnessed an accuracy of 7/8), then he
claims that he will make something new for all. Only rare and pure
ingredients are used. There is no menu. He creates delicious pieces of
art until you reluctantly ask him to stop. My filling meal was about
$135.
- Kirin Mandarin Restaurant. A very good 10 course meal, with optional
karaoke if you are attending a computer science conference. My guess for
the price is about $50. 1166 Alberni St.
-
Earl's. This is a chain of pretty good restaurants. You can find good
steaks and seafood dishes. Price: about $25. 901 West Broadway.
-
Kamei Royale. Nice sushi restaurant, where you can simply say "bring me
25
dollars of sushi". I'd say $25-30 is a good filling meal. Very friendly
staff. 1030 W. Georgia St. (604) 6878588.
