Welcome to ComputingMusic
We are artists and scientists dedicated to the advancement of the (artificial, and perhaps illusory) intelligence of computers -- in particular their musical intelligence. We believe this endeavor must be equally theoretical and artistic in nature. Much of the work we do relates to a two-part composition-analysis system called Jack & Jill that composes with a musical "understanding" (or model) of the structures it creates.
You can click on the Jack & Jill link above to hear some of its compositions. The next version of Jack & Jill will write music for string instruments, composed with an understanding of the performance possibilities of the instruments.
