Details and information:

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing machine learning systems to analyze data from bedside monitors and handwritten forms in hospital settings. Additionally, you will contribute to integrating these systems into web or mobile applications for seamless use by healthcare professionals. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and gain valuable experience in the healthcare technology industry.

Faculty, School, Department, and/or Unit: Computer Science (Faculty of Science) & Human Genetics (Faculty of Medicine)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop machine learning algorithms to process and analyze data from pictures of bedside monitors and handwritten forms.

  • Acquire and preprocess training data, and simulate real-world scenarios as needed.

  • Design and implement algorithms for feature extraction and classification.

  • Collaborate with team members to integrate machine learning systems into web or mobile applications.

  • Research and propose innovative solutions to complex problems in healthcare data analysis.

  • Work independently to manage project timelines and deliverables.

  • Document code, algorithms, and system architecture for future reference.

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript (Node), and/or React.

  • Familiarity with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.

  • Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques

  • Knowledge of computer vision techniques for image processing and object recognition.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Experience with mobile application development (iOS/Android) is a plus.

Start and end date of research project: May 6th, 2024 - August 30th, 2024. (May be flexible)

Remuneration details:$2000/month
