From classical to quantum information theory
Date: November 16th --- this Friday
Time: 11:45 AM
Room: McConnell Engineering 103.
Speaker: Ivan Savov
Title: From classical to quantum information theory
Abstract:
The study of quantum information theory is greatly aided by a thorough understanding of the concepts of classical information theory. In fact, many of the recent advances in the field are extensions of classical results to quantum systems and channels. This talk will introduce the basic paradigm of classical information theory and its generalization to the quantum world. The topics will include entropy, simple compression and distributed compression
