Project Goals: The MCIN is a multidisciplinary group which provides both research and production level services to a broad, international neuroscience community. The CBRAIN (scientific data processing platform), LORIS (multi-center scientific data management system), CIVET (large data pipeline system), all developed in-house, allow a community of hundreds of scientists around the world to organise and analyse data through remote compute resources and collaborative tools. Our systems currently integrates 9 High Performance Computing (HPC) centers across the country and around the world where our scientists use more than 5 million compute hours per year to process and analyse their data.

Job Description: Reporting to the CTO, this person will be responsible for installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and administration of the MCIN IT infrastructure. Providing highly available systems to support the center's scientific activities is the core theme of this position. The distributed nature of our platform, both at the national and international level, requires frequent interactions with other local and remote IT professionals.

Main responsibilities include but not limited to: Technical planning and installation of physical servers and other equipment. Maintenance and troubleshooting of current systems. Installation and maintenance of the operating systems and software services. Proactively ensure high-availability and performance of all services by the use of central monitoring tools. Participate in the establishment and implementation of IT policies for security, data protection, backups and recovery. Document all aspects of IT activities. Participate in the planning and design activities for new acquisitions. Provide structure, support, advice and guidance to the MCIN developers team.

Key Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements: University degree in computer science, systems engineering or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in server-based systems administration. Expert knowledge of the UNIX/Linux (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu) environment and tools. Knowledge of network, security and firewall (iptables, shorewall) management. Experience with HPC environment (SGE, Moab), distributed file systems, NAS and SAN management, virtualization (KVM, Xen). Good understanding of distributed systems. Excellent communication skill, team oriented. Good organisation skills and ability to learn quickly.
